Richard H. "Dick"Young, 76, of East Brady died Thursday at Sugar Creek Rest, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.

Born July 3, 1930, in Chicora, he was the son of William J. and Marcella F. Stein Young.

He retired in 1986 after 35 years as a pipe fitter foreman for Penreco, Karns City. He enjoyed gardening.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend, and was a member of the VFW Post 7876 in Chicora. He also was a charter member and 3rd Degree Past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council 4602, Emlenton.

A veteran of the Army, he served with the 58th Ordinance Ammunition Company during the Korean War and was a recipient of a Good Conduct Medal, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, a United Nations Service Medal, a Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and a National Defense Service Medal. He was discharged with the rank of corporal.

Surviving are his wife, Sara A. Olcus Young of East Brady; a son, Philip R. (Simone) Young of Grand Haven, Mich.; six brothers, William Young of Chicora, Paul, John and Regis Young, all of Butler, Norman Young of Hilliards and Robert Young of Chazy, N.Y.; eight sisters, Mrs. Cletus (Marcella) Fallecker, Mrs. Mary Ferguson, Mrs. John (Pauline) Graham, Mrs. John (Eleanor) Clouse, Mrs. Bert (Virginia) Koreith, Mrs. Jack (Cleora) Tritch, and Mrs. Richard (Jane) Beltrami, all of Butler, and Mrs. Lawrence (Eileen) Curtis of Chicora.He is also survived by a grandson, Maximilian Young of Grand Haven, Mich., and by nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Young, who died in 1993.

<B>YOUNG</B> — Friends of Richard H. "Dick"Young, who died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home</B>, 105 Fourth St., East Brady.A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Ditto officiating.Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Bradys Bend.A parish prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.The Knights of Columbus Council 4602 will recite the Rosary at 6:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.American Legion Posts 402 and 488 will conduct military honors Monday at the cemetery.
