Simpson

Virginia L. Simpson, 87, of Saxonburg died Thursday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born March 15, 1920, in Wilmerding, she was the daughter of Thomas and Esther Esmieu Skleton.

Mrs. Simpson was a teacher for the Freeport School District, retiring in 1975 after 15 years.

She was a member of the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon. She was past president of both the Saxonburg District Woman's Club and the Saxonburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Axillary, and was a former Girl Scout leader in Saxonburg. She had gone on a medical mission trip to Honduras.

She is survived by her son, Thomas J. Simpson of Stanhope, N.J.; her daughter, Mrs. Jim (Sandra Jean) Sorenson of Saxonburg; and two grandchildren, Shelby Rhodes and Merrill Simpson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander J. Simpson, who died Nov. 21, 2004.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Brewer officiating.
