Bertha H. Stanford, 99, of Zelienople died Wednesday at the Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony.

Born Feb. 25, 1909, in New Sewickley Township, she was the daughter of John and Laura Best Safreed.

Mrs. Stanford was a member of the English Lutheran Church, Zelienople, and the 60 Plus group in Zelienople.

She is survived by two sons, Edward L. Stanford of Roanoke, W.Va., and Robert E. Stanford of Jackson Township; a brother, Jack Safreed of Mount Jewett; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Stanford Sr., who died Oct. 30, 1970; a son, James A. Stanford Jr.; and four brothers, Clarence, William, Roy and Paul Safreed.
