Clawson

Paul James "Jim" Clawson Jr., 61, of West Freedom, Clarion County, died at 8:41 a.m. Thursday at the home of his nieces, Kelly and Paula Wilson, in Pittsburgh after a long illness.

Born April 29, 1946, in Rimersburg, he was the son of the late Paul J. and Jennie E. Holler Clawson.

He was a 1964 graduate of the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District.

Mr. Clawson was a Protestant and had attended the United Methodist Church in West Freedom for years.

He entered the Air Force Sept. 10, 1964, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant on May 24, 1968. Trained in various phases of aviation radio equipment, he became a certified air traffic controller (military) in September 1965. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign medals and the Good Conduct Medal.

He retired from Penreco in Karns City and later assisted with the senior center at Rimersburg.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but enjoyed golf, especially with membership at the Foxburg Country Club.

Surviving are a son, Casey Louis Clawson of Vail, Colo; a sister, Carolyn Clawson Wilson of Parker; four nieces, Kimberly Kaufman of Emlenton, Kelly and Paula Wilson, both of Pittsburgh, and Sara Evans of Dayton, Ohio; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.

A nephew, William T. Wilson Jr., died in December 1988.

<B>CLAWSON </B>— Friends of Paul James "Jim" Clawson Jr., who died Thursday, March 20, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Wayne Street, Parker. Visitation also will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the West Freedom United Methodist Church, Perry Township, Clarion County, where services will follow at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Rob Hernan, church pastor, and the Rev. Leonard Goughler, pastor of Church of God of Prophecy, officiating. Private burial will be later at the West Freedom Cemetery.The VFW and American Legion posts of Parker will conduct a military memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the West Freedom United Methodist Church.Information also is available at www.buzardfuneralhomes.com.
