PRE-PARADE INSPECTIONS
Members of the Flames, a community marching unit sponsored by North Washington Volunteer Fire Department, prepare April 11,1966, for a trip to Washington, D.C., where they were to participate in the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Instructor Edward Boring checks majorette Diana Sankey's hat, while assistant instructor Judy Sollinger checks to make sure Vicki Herold's tassels are securely fastened. The annual festival commemorates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington. This year's event started March 27 and will wrap up Sunday.
