The Island Playground won the costume competition among city playgrounds in the Old Fashioned Bargain Days event sponsored by the Butler Businessmen's Bureau in June 1974. Island Playground directors Paul Cammisa and Judy Tiberi receive the winners's trophy from Ginney Duffey, all-playground arts and crafts director. John Haley, West End Playground director, served as emcee for the event on the patio of Friendship Federal.
