These four Knoch majorettes, along with most of the 120 members of the Knoch High School Band, conducted a tag day June 28, 1971, in Butler as part of their efforts to raise $12,000 to send the band to Miami. The band was invited to participate in the Miss Universe Parade, marching in front of the float carrying classmate and Miss USA Michele McDonald, who was the first woman from Pennsylvania to win the Miss USA title and went on to advance to the top 15 in the Miss Universe pageant.
