EDINBORO — General McLane took the ball and ran with it.

On a chilly homecoming night in Edinboro, the defending AAA state champion Lancers amassed 379 rushing yards en route to a 56-21 whitewashing of Slippery Rock High Friday night.

Lead by junior quarterback Kellen O'Neill, who had 203 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, the Lancers built a 28-0 lead before halftime.

General McLane (4-1) took the opening kickoff and marched 69 yards on seven plays, capping the drive with a Kyle Majewski 3-yard touchdown run, to put the Lancers up 7-0.

After a Rockets punt, O'Neill hit Blidi Wreh-Wilson for 34 yards and the Lancers' second touchdown of the quarter.

The defending champs struck again, this time it was O'Neill taking the quarterback keeper 11 yards for the touchdown.

The Lancers defense then showed its teeth, intercepting Slippery Rock's Jonathan Powell. The turnover led to a Ryan Skelton 8-yard touchdown run and a commanding 28-0 lead.

Slippery Rock's offense, which gained only 110 yards in the first half, finally found the end zone on a 32-yard pass from Powell to senior Zack Ejzak, making it 28-7 with seven seconds left in the first half.

The second half began the same way the first half ended, with the Rockets taking the ball down the field for a touchdown. The 11-play, 80-yard drive was capped by a Ayron Gallagher touchdown run.

Slippery Rock (2-3) tried an onside kick, but the Lancers recovered, giving them great field position at their own 44. Four plays later, Slippery Rock found itself down three touchdowns after Wreh-Wilson's second score of the night, this one coming on an 11-yard run.

On the next Rockets possession, Slippery Rock marched inside the Lancer 15-yard-line before the drive stalled.

On fourth-and-eight, Powell's pass intended for Ejzak fell incomplete.

General McLane made its first and only mistake of the night when quarterback Kellen O'Neill fumbled the ball into the hands of Ayron Gallagher, who returned it 16-yards for a Slippery Rock touchdown and 35-21 score.

However, it was the Lancers' Wreh-Wilson who made the biggest play of the game.

On the ensuing kickoff, he took the ball 82-yards for the touchdown, his third of the game, bringing a packed crowd to its feet.

The Lancers added two more touchdowns on the ground before the final whistle to make the final score 56-21.

General McLane finished the game with 447 yards of total offense. Quarterback Kellen O'Neill threw only six passes, completing three of them for 68 yards and a touchdown. Skelton finished the game with 10 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns, while also connection on 7-of-8 extra point attempts.

For Slippery Rock, Powell was 8-of-15 passing for 195 yards, one touchdown and an interception.

A bright spot for the Rockets was Ejzak, who hauled in four passes for 119 yards.
