JACKSON TWP — It's over.

Quarterback C.J. Brown passed for two touchdowns and ran for another, and James Daniels rushed for 136 yards as the Seneca Valley football team snapped its 26-game conference losing streak with a 30-18 win over North Hills Friday.

Before their latest victory, the Raiders' last conference win came against Butler on Oct. 25, 2002.

"It's a relief," said SV coach Ron Butschle. "Our goal is always to make the playoffs and we know we're only going to get there through conference wins."

After leading 14-0 at halftime, the Raiders held a 30-18 lead with 3:28 left in the game.

North Hills junior quarterback Justin Heinauer had just thrown his third touchdown pass of the second half, a 38-yarder to Max Creighan.

After the Indians attempted an onside kick, which SV recovered, the Raiders then turned the game over to Daniels.

The senior tailback got the call on six of seven plays and picked up enough yards so that when the Indians did get the ball back, they were on their own 27-yard line with 26 seconds left in the game.

Daniels' 52-yard scoring run off left tackle earlier in the fourth quarter had put the Raiders up 30-12.

"Daniels had a nice game," said North Hills coach Jack McCurry. "What it came down to was Seneca Valley controlled the line of scrimmage tonight on both sides of the ball."

Daniels has been slowed by ankle and shoulder injuries, but his 31-carry night Friday is an encouraging sign.

"We wanted to establish the run tonight," said Butschle. "The last couple of weeks, we didn't run well, but I think we did tonight."

The Raiders set the tempo right from the start with a 10-play, 66-yard drive that ended when Brown broke out of the pocket and raced 29 yards for the opening score.

Ryan Zipf added the first of three extra points and the Raiders led 7-0 with 5:17 remaining in the first quarter.

North Hills gave senior quarterback Ryan Welsh his first start of the season and it was a mistake.

By halftime, the Indians had been outgained 120-8 and North Hills didn't attempt a pass until Heinauer's incompletion just before intermission, at which point SV led 14-0.

With Welsh under center, the Indians focused on the run, but the Raiders (3-3, 1-1) were ready for it.

"I think they saw a lot of film on our game with Baldwin," Butschle said of the Raiders' loss in Week 4 in which they gave up 592 rushing yards. "They seemed to be trying to run that same offense."

Brown hit Matt Plautz with a 3-yard scoring pass in the second quarter and connected with Dustin Anewalt for a 12-yard touchdown in the third quarter for a 21-0 lead.

That's when Heinauer was finally cut loose and he immediately delivered.

His 45-yard scramble was followed by a 15-yard scoring pass to running back Ed Reith. The extra point failed and the Indians trailed 21-6 with 8:08 left in the third quarter.

Heinauer threw two more scoring passes, including a 57-yarder to Brennan Prokopec, but the Indians (2-4, 0-2) had spotted the Raiders too many points.

Notes: Zipf added a 30-yard field goal in the third quarter that made the score 24-6. ... Plautz caught nine passes for 84 yards. ... Brown ended the game with 59 rushing yards on 10 carries. ... Seneca Valley will host Erie McDowell next Friday.
