Ford City drops Freeport
FREEPORT — A pair of late fourth-quarter touchdowns helped Ford City seal a 36-14 decision over Freeport in an Allegheny Conference matchup Friday.
Five Freeport penalties in the first half enabled the visitors to jump out to a 22-0 halftime lead.
Freeport pulled closer in the second half, taking the kickoff and marching 62 yards on a time-consuming 8-minute, 41-second drive
Andy Teorsky capped the drive with a 13-yard touchdown run that made it a 22-7 game.
After a short drive by Ford City stalled, the Yellowjackets took the ball 72 yards in just five plays. Austin Shockey rumbled in from the 2-yard line on a second-and- goal play to make it 22-14 with 10:49 to go in the game.
But just as Freeport had made it a one-possession game, Ford City's Ryan Yowncy took the kickoff 55 yards to the Freeport 26.
Ford City's Brandon Carson put it in from the Freeport 2 to end any hopes of a comeback.
Ford City added one more score to make the final a 36-14 win.
Freeport ended the game with eight penalties for 81 yards and turned the ball over twice.
Ford City outgained the Yellowjackets 265-138. Sean Kriley of Ford City led all rushers with 91 yards while teammate Sam Repak compiled 112 total yards.
