Children share food
Children in the kindergarten sponsored by Calvary United Presbyterian Church shared their food with less fortunate families on Thanksgiving in 1965 at the Calvary Church in Butler. More than 80 children in the two classes took their food to class and presented it to Butler County Child Welfare Services. Children, from left, are Beth Boggs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Witcher Boggs; Ronald Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Moore; Rhett Walls, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Walls; and Matt Towzey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl M. Towzey Jr. Receiving the basket of staple foods are Sidney Sanders, left, director of local child welfare services, and Joseph G. McCloskey, a caseworker. Now, with Thanksgiving right around the corner, local organizations are asking for donations to help less fortunate families this Thanksgiving. Children at area schools are also pitching in, donating supplies to help make the holiday season a joyous time for all.
