Students give Thanksgiving a closer look
Area students carved to the root of Thanksgiving traditions on Nov. 23, 1988, with reenactments of that first holiday of thanks in 1621. Pilgrims and Indians at St. Wendelin School in Carbon Center started at the very beginning — with the arrival of the Mayflower, a prayer at Plymouth Rock and making the acquaintance of America’s original inhabitants. Today, children from around the county will be learning about Thanksgiving while waiting on school to end to start enjoying their Thanksgiving holiday break.
