Moniteau winning streak continues

Moniteau quarterback Tyler Armagost picks up a first down in the second quarter of the Warriors' 42-7 win over Brookville Friday.
Warriors offense stomps Brookville, 42-7

CHERRY TWP — It was a beautiful night for football — especially if you were a Moniteau fan.

The Warriors crushed Brookville 42-7 in a game that saw undefeated Moniteau gain 515 total yards on offense.

The Warriors started the game on the Brookville 34-yard line. Five plays later, quarterback Tyler Armagost threw a 25-yard pass to Dakota Campbell for a touchdown.

Anthony Miller scored the extra point as Moniteau (6-0) lit up the board first.

Fifteen seconds after the Warriors scored, Kyle Galbraith scored on a 90-yard kickoff return for the visiting Raiders (3-4). The PAT was added by A.J. Moore to tie the game at 7.

Moniteau went three-and-out as did Brookville until Armagost managed a 3-yard gain on a fumble that was quickly followed by a 35-yard score on a rush by James Shope

Despite multiple infractions and some football gifts given to the Raiders by the Warriors, the rest of the game belonged to Moniteau.

Brookville's Dan Haines intercepted an Armagost pass near the end of the first quarter, but the Raiders ended up punting it back to the Warriors after three downs.

The play went back and forth for several series until Moniteau scored in the second quarter on a 4-yard rush by Shope.

Shope then intercepted a pass by Brookville quarterback Tyler Dombrowski before finishing the drive with an 8-yard run for Moniteau's fourth touchdown.

The Warriors left the field at halftime with a 28-7 lead.

The second half had opportunities for the Raiders to capitalize on nine Moniteau penalties that gained them 80 yards. The Warriors defense held the Brookville offense captive and the Warriors struck twice on two Armagost passes to Tony Campbell in the third quarter.

With Moniteau leading 42-7, an Armagost fumble recovered by the Raiders gave them some hope, but the Warriors defense pushed them back, allowing Brookville only 58 total yards.

Brookville coach, Chris Dworek said the "kick return was a big play that sparked the team. The last time the Raiders had a kick returned for a score was 2004."

He said his team "made little mistakes early. They can't make mistakes and win games."

Moniteau coach Jeff Campbell said the Warriors are "very focused. They run the football, throw the football, and keep winning games. They are going against any team who gets in the way."
