George R. Sauers
George R. Sauers, 60, of Adams Township, formerly of Forward Township, Evans City, died Saturday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Cranberry Township.
Born April 27, 1948, in Butler, he was the son of the late George J. and Margaret Sauers.
George was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was a longtime employee of Mine Safety Appliances and retired from BASF in 2006.
George was a dedicated member of St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister.
He was an unassuming man who attempted to live his faith daily. George was a gentle soul who enjoyed the changing seasons, riding his Kubota tractor, birdwatching and playing with his cherished boxer, Becky. He loved the Steelers and going fishing. He will be greatly missed.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara Fiel Sauers, whom he married Dec. 9, 1972; loving father of Matthew Sauers and his wife, Laura, and Daniel Sauers, and his wife, Beth, all of Evans City; devoted grandfather of Canaan, Naomi and his unborn grandson, Dean George Sauers; and loving brother of Mike Sauers, and his wife, Cherry, of Mars.
<B>SAUERS</B> — Friends of George R. Sauers, who died Saturday, May 3, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church, 417 E. Main St., Evans City. Everyone is to meet at the church. The Rev.
