GREENVILLE — Junior running back Wes Phipps had 15 carries for 170 yards and three touchdowns Friday night as unbeaten Grove City High rolled through Greenville, 48-0.

Eagles coach Jeff Bell said he was proud to see his team accomplish something that it practiced all week: forcing the fumble. Erik Record stripped Trojans running back Luke Houpt of the ball inside the Eagles 10-yard line early in the game.

"The strip drill is something that we practice all the time," Bell said. "To see it pay off in an important situation helped keep the game in our favor tonight."

The Eagles (4-0, 2-0) kept the game in their favor from the six-minute scoring drive to open the game until the final whistle.

Four other Eagles besides Phipps scored touchdowns on Friday night. One of the biggest plays was junior quarterback Tyler Dagres' 56 yard pass down the middle to Record.

That score made the game 14-0 and Grove City retained control until the end.

Bell tipped his cap to his offensive coaches.

"The offensive coordinators called solid plays all game," he said. "We had good execution all game, and that led to a win over a good Greenville team."

Grove City's offense had a nearly mistake-free night with no turnovers and only two penalties for 12 yards.

After defeating Franklin 91-12 last week, Bell said this week's pregame was longer than usual to make sure the team was focused.

"We kept them longer for pregame to make sure that they were focused," Bell said. "I like how they responded to my test and they have worked hard all year."
