Top award winners with the Butler High School basketball team in 1970-1971 were, from left, Ken Gilliland, Darian Tenace, Ed Deichman and John Angell. Gilliland was the most improved player among the junior varsity players; Tenace received the hustle award; Deichman was selected MVP, won the best rebound award and the best foul shot trophy, sinking 84 of 153; and Angell had the best field goal percentage by making 82 of 162 shots. The recognition banquet was held at the Horn of Plenty under the sponsorship of the Mothers’ Club.
