George R. Martin, 88, of Parkcrest Lane died at 11:09 p.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 21, 1919, in Batavia, N.Y., he was the son of George F. and Alice Martin.

Mr. Martin was a sales representative for Heywood-Wakefield Co. of Gardner, Mass., and other furniture manufacturers for 40 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Martin was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps.

He was a member of Butler Elks Lodge 170, F&AM Masonic Lodge of Gardner, Mass., and American Legion Post 117.

Mr. Martin liked golfing, fishing and boating. He also was active with Habitat for Humanity for years.Surviving are his wife, V. Eloise Watson Martin, who he married Oct. 14, 1944; a daughter, Deborah L. Smith of Wexford; a son, Paul L. Martin of Biddeford, Maine; and four grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Davis of Tucson, Ariz.; and a brother, Donald Martin of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
