The Butler County Farm Bureau will hold its spring meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 12 at the Unionville Grange Hall, Benbrook Road.

The program includes a presentation by ventriloquist Cindy Speck and member services and committee reports.

A stuffed pork chop dinner will be served. Cost is $12.50 per person.

A drawing for a 2013 Butler County Farm Bureau paid membership and other door prizes will be awarded.

ERIE — A federal judge has rejected claims by Marcellus shale drillers that the U.S. Forest Service was in contempt of the judge's 2009 order requiring the service to start processing drilling requests in the Allegheny National Forest in northwestern Pennsylvania.The drillers claimed the forest service violated the order by denying drillers the use of surface or groundwater for hydraulic fracking and by taking more than 60 days to process the drilling notices.On Monday, the judge agreed the law doesn't allow the forest service to deny drillers access to water and the mineral rights beneath the surface.

PITTSBURGH — U.S. Steel says it may move out of Pittsburgh's tallest skyscraper, which is named for the steelmaker.The company's lease in U.S. Steel Tower expires in 2017, and spokesman Chuck Rice tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that “cost, efficiency and logistics” may lead the company to abandon the building at that time.U.S. Steel is the second-largest tenant in the building, leasing 14 of its 64 floors to house 1,500 employees.
