Wayne C. Morgan, 85, of 436 Sugarcreek Drive, Franklin, Venango County, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday at UPMC Northwest.

Born April 8, 1929, in Argentine, Butler County, he was a son of Albert Morgan and Amanda Young Morgan.

Mr. Morgan served in the Army Air Corps during and after World War II, from 1943 to 1946. He received Good Conduct, American Theater Service and Asian-Pacific Theater Service Victory medals.

He was a retired steelworker from Franklin Steel. He had also worked at Amalie Refinery.

Mr. Morgan attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Franklin. He was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time on his front porch waving to friends and neighbors. He had a beloved dog named Bud.

Mr. Morgan spent the last two months at Sugarcreek Station healing from a broken leg.

He is survived by two sons, David Morgan of Pittsburgh and Joseph Morgan and his wife, Wendy, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a daughter, Jean Marie Morgan of Franklin; and a grandchild, Joseph Morgan Jr. of Winston-Salem.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie A. Schoen Morgan, whom he married Jan. 18, 1957, and who died Feb. 3, 2002; as well as his parents. He is the last surviving member of the Morgan family. He was one of nine children.

<B>MORGAN —</B> Friends of Wayne C. Morgan, who died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the<B> GARDINIER FUNERAL HOME</B> in Franklin. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, the Rev. Scott Woodlee, pastor of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Franklin, officiating. Burial will be in the North Washington Union Cemetery.
