Eleanore G. Heberling

Former Butler resident Eleanore G. Heberling, 94, died Feb. 5 in Sun City, Ariz., where she had lived for 24 years.

Born June 28, 1914, in Parkers Landing, she was the daughter of George F. and Nellie G. Grazier Butler.

She grew up in Butler, graduated from Butler High School and worked for a time as a secretary at Armco before marrying Max H. Heberling, her high school sweetheart, in 1937. He died in 1985.

Mrs. Heberling was a life member of the Maqueda Chapter 421 of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served as worthy matron in 1950-51.

She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for several years, and she enjoyed playing the piano and organ. Knitting was the great passion of her life. She taught countless people to knit in more than 50 years of teaching in Butler and in Sun City, Ariz.

She is survived by three children, Thomas G. and his wife, Nancy, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., T.P. "Ted" and his wife, Patty, of Sarasota, Fla., and Susan E. and her partner, Lamar Bliss, of Potsdam, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, two brothers, James F. and Paul T. Butler, preceded her in death.
