Man, 19, charged with rape of child
A 19-year-old Butler man has been charged with the rape of a child.
Michael Kopp was charged last week with six felonies and one misdemeanor related to the alleged rape of a young girl.
According to charging documents, ChildLine relayed a report to county detectives after the accuser's mother found journal entries about the alleged rape.
The documents said the 12-year-old accuser was interviewed in December.
Police said the girl claimed the abuse began in 2018, when she was 9 years old. Kopp would have been around 16 years old at that time.
According to police, the girl told her interviewer Kopp had sex with her multiple times as well as other sexual or lewd acts.
Attorney Max Roesch was listed in court documents as representing Kopp. On Monday, Roesch said he had no comment on the case at this time.
Kopp was arraigned April 1 by District Judge William Fullerton and released on a non-monetary bond with multiple conditions.
He is prohibited from contacting the victim as well as not using social media to message or make reference to the victim. Another condition prohibits Kopp from any unsupervised contact with minors.
A preliminary hearing is set May 3.
