Erik F. Selby
Erik F. Selby, 43, of Rockdale Road, Butler, Penn Township, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at his home of natural causes.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Nov. 9, 1965, the son of Ina Parsons of Penn Hills and the late Donald Friedman.
Mr. Selby started his career in radio, as a disc jockey for WINS, WPLW and WKPR Radio in Pittsburgh, was a mid-day DJ personality from 1990-91 at WEZE FM and since 1992 was the program director for KQV Radio in Pittsburgh. He was the 2003 color commentator for the online broadcasts for the Pittsburgh Forge minor league ice hockey team.
He and his wife owned and operated Meadow Rock Farm and Gardens, a community supported agriculture farm, on Rockdale Road in Penn Township. The farm was his dream and passion.
He was a member of the Herbal Thymes Club, the Pennsylvania Sustainable Agriculture Farm organization and the Butler Tourism Agriculture Program.
Surviving are his wife, Susan E. Barr Selby; his mother, Ida Parsons; and his aunt, Beverly Nithman of Penn Hills. He was the son-in-law of Robert Barr Sr.; brother-in-law of Dorothy McNaugher (William) of Cranberry Township and Robert Barr Jr. (Donna) and David W. Barr (Debbie), both of Mars. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews; his cats, Puddy, Foxy, Selby and Gracie; and a rabbit, "Bunny Rabbit."
