Pitt slates future opponents

PITTSBURGH - Pitt will play two Big Ten opponents in future football seasons, but neither is named Penn State.

Iowa and Pitt reached agreement on a four-year, home-and-home series with games in Pittsburgh in 2008 and 2016 and at Iowa in 2011 and 2015. Pitt will also play host to Michigan State in 2006 and visit the Spartans in 2007.

Pitt hasn't played a Big Ten opponent since beating Penn State 12-0 in 2000, the last game in a once-traditional rivalry that Pitt has been unable to persuade the Nittany Lions to resume.

Pitt also has contracts to play future games against four ACC teams: Virginia (2006, 2007), North Carolina State (2009, 2013), Virginia Tech (2012, 2013) and Miami (2010).

Virginia Tech and Miami are former Big East members that worked out contracts with their former conference rival after leaving for the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Pitt also announced last year it will play Notre Dame every year from 2008-2015.
