Alberta Schreckengost
Sara Alberta "Birdie" Schreckengost, 93, of Indiana, Pa., formerly of Butler, died Monday at the Communities at Indian Haven.
Alberta was born Sept. 11, 1915, in Butler, to Sara E. Stokes and Walter R. Gaiser.
She married Edgar Schreckengost on Oct. 9, 1938, and had one daughter, Kay Thorell, of Indiana, Pa.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Butler, and Zion Lutheran Church, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Mary Catherine Gaiser and Nelda Marie King.
Surviving are daughter Kay and her husband, Richard; a granddaughter, Sara Ellenberger and her husband, Tyson; a grandson, John; a sister-in-law, Esther Greenlees; and five nieces and nephews.
<B>SCHRECKENGOST </B>— Friends of Sara Alberta "Birdie" Schreckengost, who died Monday, May 18, 2009, will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Bence-Mihalcik Funeral Home</B>, Indiana, and from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church, where a funeral liturgy will be sung at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Brian C. Miller presiding. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at the North Side Cemetery, Butler, where the family also will receive friends.Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 100 S.
