Donald Greenawalt
Donald G. "Dutch" Greenawalt, 81, of Chicora, formerly of Hopewell Township where he and his wife had lived for 54 years, died at 9:17 p.m. Monday in Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Kaylor March 30, 1928, the son of the late Clarence Greenawalt and the late Elizabeth Traistor Greenawalt.
He retired from Armco Steel in Ambridge after 38 years.
Mr. Greenawalt was a U.S. Navy veteran, and he was a member of the VFW and the Quarterback Club, both in Hopewell Township.
He was very active in the Hopewell Boys Little League and instrumental in starting the girls softball league.
He was elected Sportsman of the Year in 1970. He enjoyed working with stain glass.
He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend.
Mr. Greenawalt is survived by his wife, Philomena DeBacco Greenawalt, whom he married April 30, 1949; two daughters, Debbie Fiorilli of Florida and Cathy Greenawalt of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, James Greenawalt and his wife, Suzanne, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Chris Greenawalt of Hershey; five grandchildren, Zachary Greenawalt, Jessica Greenawalt, Courtney Greenawalt, Luke Greenawalt and Ashley Fiorilli; one sister, Betty Galibreth and her husband, Frank, of Hopewell Township, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
