Jeffrey J. 'Jack' Roe
Jeffrey J. "Jack" Roe, 56, of Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, passed away Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 7, 1952, in New Castle, he was the son of the late John and Mildred Davis Roe.
Jack was a driver for South Shore Transportation in Sandusky, Ohio. He was the past transportation director at the Portersville Christian School.
He was a member of the New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, small group leader and usher.
He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Geneva College and the Church Leadership Institute of the American Baptist Churches.
He enjoyed landscaping and electrical work.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Kathy Sonntag Roe, who he married Dec. 15, 1979, a daughter, Aimee Roe and a son, Stephen Roe, all of Slippery Rock Township; and a sister and her husband, Susan and Don "Jethro" Summa of Fombell. He also is survived by four nieces, seven nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Linda Mayer and Don and Jan Robinson Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
<B>ROE</B> — Visiting hours for Jeffrey J. "Jack" Roe, who died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. Sunday, all at the New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1911 Harlansburg Road, New Castle. The Rev. George Yates and Pastor Ron Nagel will officiate. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mount Herman Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Portersville Christian School or the New Castle City Rescue Mission.Arrangements have been entrusted to the <B>Marshall Funeral Home</B>, Ellwood City.
