LeRoy F. Smith
LeRoy F. Smith, 84, of Marwood Road, Cabot, formerly of September Drive in Butler, died at 11:52 a.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 31, 1924, in North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, the son of the late Carl F. Smith and the late Zelma I. Roudybush-Smith.
He was a certified welder for Wise Machine Co. where he worked for 33 years. He was very active at First Baptist Church throughout the years.
He enjoyed a wide variety of interests and hobbies, including woodworking, gardening, remodeling, and he always had a project going. He loved making things for his children and grandchildren. Over the years, he worked to make his family his No. 1 priority.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtie Mae Campbell Smith, who he married Jan. 3, 1948; three sons, Gary L. and his wife Phyllis Smith of Butler, Jay R. and his wife Nancy Smith of Butler and Drew F. and his wife Patti Smith of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two daughters, Kristine L. Lutton of Philadelphia and Claudia L. and the Rev. Donald L. Shirk of Batavia, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Robert W. Smith of Worthington and Paul R. Smith of Clarion; and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Martha J. Cumberland, and one brother, Lawrence Smith.
<B>SMITH</B> — Friends of Roy F. Smith, who died Friday, May 29, 2009, will be received at noon, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Donald Shirk of Grace Baptist Church of Batavia, N.Y., and the Rev. David Maitland of First Baptist Church of Butler officiating.
