Lela Jean Travaglio
Lela Jean Travaglio, 90, of West Sunbury died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at her home.
She was born Jan. 2, 1919, in Butler County, the daughter of the late Calvin E. McGinnis and the late Elfreda (Rhodes) McGinnis.
Lela Jean was the oldest resident of West Sunbury.
She was a lifelong member of the West Sunbury Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for more than 65 years and served on the board of trustees as well as many other organizations and committees.
She wrote poetry for her church, family and friends, one poem being published in a book which is in the Library of Congress.
She was a graduate of the Bashline-Rossman School of Nursing in Grove City, where she had been employed as a surgical supervisor. She also had worked in the office of a private physician before her marriage to Albert R. Travaglio.
Surviving are two sons, David and Gay Travaglio of West Sunbury and Kevin and Marjie Travaglio of Hilliards; a granddaughter, Tracy Travaglio of West Sunbury; and a niece, Leanne Heaton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Travaglio, who died May 20, 1985; a son, Dennis Travaglio, who died Aug. 16, 1980; and a sister.
<B>TRAVAGLIO</B> — Friends of Lela Jean Travaglio, who died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Church St., West Sunbury.
