Joseph G. Zilafro

Joseph G. Zilafro, 75, of Saranac, Mich., went home April 26 to be with his Lord.

Joe was born April 6, 1934, in Parker, the son of Joseph Allen and Ethel (Stewart) Zilafro.

He married Dillie Glenn on Aug. 8, 1964, in Detroit.

He was a machinist in tool and die for many years until retiring at age 70.

Joe was a member of the Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, Mich.

He had a very strong passion for fishing.

He was a Korean War veteran of the Army, where he was a classified sharp shooter and also taught electronics.

Joe is survived by his wife, Dillie Zilafro of Saranac; children, Jennifer and Mike Holiday of Saginaw, Mich., and Joseph and Angela Zilafro of Clinton Township, Mich.; grandchildren, Michael Holiday, Amber Holiday, Shelby Holiday, Danielle Zilafro and Nicolas Zilafro; a sister, Martha Kersey of Butler; and sisters-in-law, Katherine Page Zilafro of Oil City and Janet Zilafro of Mount Clemens, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Allen Zilafro and Ethel Stewart Zilafro Bartley; his twin brother, John Philbert Zilafro; and his brother, James Lance Zilafro of Oil City.

<B>ZILAFRO</B> — Funeral services for Joseph G. Zilafro, who died April 26, 2009, were at the Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, Mich., with Pastor Tom Couch officiating. Visitation was at Lake Funeral Home, Ionia, Mich. Interment was at Easton Cemetery in Ionia.Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Calvary Church.
