Hutzler

Clair W. Hutzler, 90, formerly of North Monroe Street, died Saturday in Galesburg, Mich. He had been living in Michigan to be near his family.

He was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Leasureville, Winfield Township, a son of the late Peter A. and Gertrude Rivers Hutzler.

Clair was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II, and he was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Hutzler was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

He retired as an accountant from the T.W. Phillips Gas & Oil Co.

Mr. Hutzler served on numerous charitable organizations during his working years including the United Way of Butler County, the Red Cross, the Butler County Tourist Promotion Agency, the YMCA Building Fund Advisory Council, cancer drives, the Boy Scout Sustaining Membership Appeal, the Industrial Development Fundraising Program, Easter Seals and Human Relations.

Clair loved to play golf and was a member of the Butler Country Cub. He also was a life member of the Butler Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus Council 866 in Butler.

His wife, Wilma Green Hutzler, preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1996. A daughter, Carole Ann Mahoney, four brothers and three sisters also preceded him.

Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. James (Diana) Schelb of Galesburg, Mich.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Tony (Kimberly) Latora of Portage, Mich., Brian Justus and his wife, Andrea Justus, of Portage, Mich., and Adam Justus of Dearborn, Mich.; and five great-grandchildren, Angelo, Dominic and Dante Latora, and Brendan and Deagan Justus. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

<B>Hutzler </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Clair W. Hutzler, who died Saturday, July 4, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel funeral home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.Members of the Knights of Columbus will meet at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home to recite the rosary.
