11:52 p.m. Friday — Two children were injured after falling out of the back of a pickup truck driving along Spruce Road in Fairview Township.

Police said the girls, ages 9 and 11, both of Karns City, fell off the tailgate of the truck while it was driving up a hill east of Butternut Road, according to police and 911 reports. The 11-year-old suffered moderate injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. The 9-year-old was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was not identified by police. It is unknown if any charges were filed.

7:15 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Brandy L. Shay, 24, of Hilliards struck the side of an SUV driven by Danielle K. Schaffold, 22, of East Brady at the intersection of routes 38 and 138 in Washington Township.

Shay was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with injuries.

Both vehicles were towed.

July 12 — Someone broke into a vehicle at 102 Grohman Road, near the intersection with Route 356, and stole several items, including a handgun.

The theft occurred sometime between June 1 and July 12.

7:20 a.m. — A 17-year-old Conneaut Lake boy suffered minor injuries after the Ford Ranger he was driving crashed into a ditch and rolled on its side along Route 19 in Sandy Creek Township, Mercer County.

[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]

10:01 a.m. Thursday — A Knox man suffered severe injuries after he was struck by a car along Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.

Police said Joshua P. Wagner was working along the berm of the road at its intersection with Mount Herman Church Road when he was struck by the car driven by Orlando L. Castro, 49, of Sharon.

Police said Castro’s eastbound car swerved across the westbound lane of the road and crashed into the guide rail, breaking it from its posts.

Wagner was hit and flipped into the air, police said. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital by Noga Ambulance.

Neither Castro nor a passenger in his car were injured.

The investigation is continuing.

[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]

2:08 a.m. Wednesday — Ryan J. Albertson, 25, of Grove City was arrested for suspected DUI and careless driving.

Tuesday — Rico Resper, 21, of Grove City was charged with receiving stolen property in connection with a burglary that occurred on Overhill Street in April.
