The Butler County girls tennis scene will have some familiar faces stepping back into competition in the coming weeks. Headlined by a pair of North Catholic stalwarts aiming to make noise not only in the WPIAL, but also in state tournaments, the area will get to enjoy some talent on local courts.

Organized alphabetically, let’s take a look at some athletes that are worth making a racket about. Get it?

Busler, who played No. 2 singles for the Golden Tornado as a junior, reaching the WPIAL Section 2-3A tournament, has “been putting in good work in the offseason,” Butler coach Conlan Walsh said.

It would make sense for Busler to replace the graduated Laini Spohn, a first-team Butler Eagle Girls Tennis All-Star in 2025, as the team’s top singles player.

Culley is one of three juniors — including Evie Miske and Ella Marley — who Raiders coach Andrea Morrisard expects to lead the team. Culley was a Butler Eagle Girls Tennis All-Star honorable mention last season.

“They’ve just been working on (their game),” Morrisard said. “They’ve been working with their coaches. They’ve participated in tournaments in the offseason.”

Kampian has served as the Planets’ No. 1 since her freshman season. Mars tennis coach Mark Varlotta said she “has added layers to her game each year and should be one of the best players in our section this season.”

Kampian went 9-4 a campaign ago and won her WPIAL Section 2-3A singles tournament first-round match over Pine-Richland’s Lucy Hynds.

Like Busler, Lipp appears poised to step up in singles competition this season. Lipp played No. 3 singles last season, and Walsh said she “really has improved her speed and endurance this offseason, as well as her game.”

Marche, the reigning Butler Eagle Girls Tennis Player of the Year, “was really just my powerhouse” last season, Trojanettes coach Dorothy Dohanics said.

Marche, last season’s WPIAL Section 3-2A singles champion, helped lead North Catholic to the PIAA Class Girls Tennis Team Championship final after being the WPIAL runner-up.

Along with doubles partner and classmate Grace Nam, Riegler is primed to slide into a singles spot for the Planets. That pair went 9-2 last season.

Riegler and Nam were both Butler Eagle Girls Tennis All-Star honorable mentions in 2025.

Stall will fill the Trojanettes’ No. 2 singles spot after going 2-1 in states in the same position last season. She also paired with Marche to reach the PIAA tournament in doubles, but lost in the first round.

“Macaria just has a fantastic work ethic,” Dohanics said. “(She’s) super positive and she really brings the team together.”
