Butler County's great daily newspaper

Dave

OK, so what other commissioner has ever received a lifetime pension before? I can see offering a pension to someone who has been in office for 30 years - that's about how long it takes for someone in the private sector to get a pension. Why wasn't such a huge county expense put on the ballot? We could end up paying these people a pension for 30-40 years! I really don't want my taxes raised to give a guy who worked for what? 16 years to get a pension for the rest of his life! ..and I can't believe anyone else in this county does either.

I admit, I have missed reading the paper, but if there was ever an article in there about a commissioner considering giving himself a lifetime pension, it would have been a conversation around town, so I don't think it was ever in there until Mr Eckstein brought it up.

Have you ever received a 20% raise? - I haven't and I don't know anyone else who ever has either.

I'm not saying Eckstein is going about things the right way but these things should have been published news to the county so we could have given input before it was too late.

Most people work, so we can't go to these meetings, but the newspaper pays people to report the news - and this is news!
