Grubb

Donald J. Grubb, 75, of Howard, Colo., suffered a fatal heart attack June 6.

He was born and raised in Branchton and graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1951.

He was the husband of Anne, and they would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary June 26.

Mr. Grubb served two years in the 4th Infantry, U.S. Army, at Fort Lewis, Wash. He continued his education majoring in criminal justice and sociology.

His teaching venues included Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, Va., where he was honored as professor emeritus; Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte, Neb., and the Department of Corrections in Buena Vista, Colo. He currently was a professor at Pueblo Community College in Cañon City, Colo., in addition to being a popular substitute teacher at schools in his area.

Mr. Grubb was involved with law enforcement and corrections for 40 years. In 1966, he graduated from the Los Angeles Police Academy and was later a criminal investigator with the Denver district attorney's office organized crime unit. He was a park ranger for the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area in Salida, Colo.

He enjoyed writing fiction and nonfiction stories and plays. Four of his plays were performed, two at the Salida Steam Plant Theater and Event Center and two at the Jones Theater in Westcliffe, Colo.

His grandchildren will always remember his great stories. He enjoyed taking his family fishing, hunting, camping, hiking and swimming.

Mr. Grubb drove the Ark Valley Ambulance in connection with the Howard Volunteer Fire Department.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John F. and Kathryn V. Grubb; and niece and nephew, Joanna and Johnathan Brydon, all of Pennsylvania.

Survivors include his wife, Anne; sons, Daniel J. Grubb (special friend, Lani Meyer) of Lexington, Neb., and David (Lesley) Grubb of Cranston, R.I.; a daughter, Diane (Gail) James of Gothenburg, Neb.; grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Kayla Grubb, Casey and Garrett James and Damien and Dylan Grubb; and a sister, Helen Brydon and her son, Tom Brydon of Slippery Rock.
