Chapman

Kathleen H. Hobbs Chapman, 82, of St. Barnabas Village, Richland Township, formerly of Mars, died Saturday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born in Beaver County, Nov. 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Jessie Quigley Hobbs.

A librarian, Mrs. Chapman was a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor's degree in library science.

She was a longtime member of the North Hills Christian Church. She also belonged to the Daughter's of the American Revolution and had been a founding member and past president of the Garden Club of Athens, Ga.

Surviving are her husband, George E. Chapman, who she married Dec. 27, 1951; two sons, George "Ed" Chapman Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Pittsburgh and Robert Mark Chapman and his wife, Cathy, of Charlotte, N.C.; and a daughter, Emily Sue Dailey and her husband, Kurt, of Gallipolis, Ohio. She was the grandmother of Laura, Brandon, Denise, Anita, Jennifer, John, Hannah and Claire; and great-grandmother of Angel, Andrew, Aiden, Julian, David and Daniel. Also surviving are two sisters, Emily Way and her husband, Ellwood, of State College and Helen Boone of Youngstown, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Craig and Bruce Hobbs.

Hobbs Chapman, who died Saturday, July 25, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the North Hills Christian Church, 778 Thompson Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
