BUTLER TWP — By August, a former concrete plant on Delwood Avenue will be transformed into the new location for Rock-n-Rescue.

The company, which employs about a dozen people, produces and distributes equipment related to rescue and sports, such as rock climbing, rappelling, caving and bungee jumping.

The company has outgrown it’s building in Valencia, said company President John Weinel.

The 12,500-square-foot size and price of the structure at 300 Delwood Ave.were deciding factors in the move, Weinel said.

The entire building has been gutted and will look different on the inside as well as the outside.

“The neighbors are pretty happy about that,” Weinel said. “It was vacant for awhile.”

When completed, some products, including bags and harnesses, will be produced there. For other products, the location will be a distribution site and it will invite walk-in business.

“A lot of our business comes from the Moraine-McConnells Mill (state parks) traffic,” Weinel said.
