Planned Meijer store in Cranberry Township will have liquor license
CRANBERRY TWP — The planned Meijer store on Franklin Road and Route 228 was unanimously approved to sell alcohol during the Thursday, Aug. 6, township board of supervisors meeting.
The liquor license was acquired from Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza through an intermunicipal transfer. The board held a public hearing on the transfer during its July 30 meeting.
At the hearing, a Meijer representative said Meijer maintains 650 liquor licenses in six states. The planned store in Cranberry Township will be the chain’s first in Pennsylvania.
The store likely will be open from 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. or midnight, the representative said.
Only one register will be set up in the liquor section to check out alcohol products.
The Meijer location is part of Henderson Crossing, a mixed-use development in the planning stages, and will likely be under construction at some point later in the year, said Ron Henshaw, director of planning and development services for the township.
