Bernard "Bernie" Paul Harris passed away peacefully July 17 at the age of 92 in Pittsburgh, where he had been residing at the Forward Shady Apartments.

He is survived by his nieces, Marla Orchen Zipin, Kathy Orchen and Kim Orchen Cooper; his grandnephew, Joshua Zipin; and his grandnieces Hannah Orchen Gallagher, Jessica Zipin and Rylee Miranda Cooper.

His sister, Mildred "Micki" Harris Orchen predeceased him in 2004, as well as his longtime companion, Bessie Levine.

Bernie was raised on a farm in Herman and was integral to its operation.

He helped many people during his lifetime in various ways. He served as volunteer fire chief in Herman. Until his death, he was an active volunteer, including calling bingo games and singing in the choir, at the Forward Shady Apartments.
