Alberta S. Baumgartle Fischer Baer, 81, of Strattanville, formerly of Cooperstown and Mars, passed away Saturday at the St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.

Born in West Deer Township, Jan. 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Harvey S. and Eva E. Mink Baumgartle.

She was a Protestant.

She had been a justice of the peace in Cooperstown. She then served as secretary for the district judge in Evans City, retiring in 1982.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Fischer, who died July 14, 1988, and also by two brothers.

Surviving are her husband, James Baer of Strattanville; a son, Lyle (Judy) Fischer of Gibsonia; a daughter, Virginia (John) Chandler of Bloomingdale, Ohio; a sister, Edna Weber of Slippery Rock; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two stepdaughters.
