Robert H. "Bob" Rossiter, 62, of Hemlock Road, Petrolia, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Sugarcreek Rest, Worthington, following a lingering illness.

He was born in Petrolia, Jan. 14, 1947, and was a son of the late Arthur Rossiter and Evelyn Pearl Benton Rossiter.

He was a member of the Bruin United Methodist Church, Argyle Lodge 540 F&AM and graduated from the Karns City High School, Class of 1965, where he played on the football and softball teams.

He served with the U.S. Army Reserves from 1966 until 1971 at Fort Knox, Ky., as a sergeant E5 with the 332nd Engineer Co. During that time, he qualified as a sharpshooter. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Chicora.

He enjoyed hunting, golfing and sharing time with his wife, family and grandchildren.

He was employed at Witco Corp. in Petrolia in the shipping department, plant maintenance and at the hydro plant.

He married the former Bonnie Kay Miller on Oct. 12, 1968, in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Chicora. She survives along with two daughters, Lynn Ann Campbell and her husband, Michael, of West Sunbury and Heather Marie Hilliard and her husband, Scott, of Bruin; four grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Campbell of West Sunbury, Tyler Aaron Hilliard of Bruin, Allyson Nicole Campbell of West Sunbury and Zander Rhys Hilliard of Bruin; a brother, William Arthur Rossiter and his wife, Nancimae, of Tidioute; and a nephew, Arthur William Rossiter and his wife, Rose-Ann, of Austin, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother on April 9, 1973; and his father on April 10, 1988.

<B>ROSSITER </B>— Friends of Robert H. "Bob" Rossiter, who died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home </B>in Petrolia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the funeral home with Pastor Nathan Bramlet, chaplain of Sugarcreek Rest, officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia, with full military honors accorded by members of the VFW and American Legion of Chicora,.Members of Argyle Lodge 540 F&AM will meet at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home to conduct memorial services.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hillisfuneralhome.com.
