Norma 'Jeanne' Heller

Norma "Jeanne" Heller, 72, of San Diego, Calif., originally from Butler, passed away Sept. 11 at the Scripps-Green Hospital in La Jolla, Calif., following a 10-month courageous battle with cancer.

Jeanne, born in Butler, Nov. 13, 1936, was the daughter of the late William J. and Anna Catcher Heller.

Before moving to California, Jeanne lived in the Shadyside section of Pittsburgh and retired as an executive assistant from Gulf Oil. Upon moving to California, she worked for the Chevron Oil Co. and the General Dynamics Corp.

Jeanne truly enjoyed all that life had to offer and was an avid reader with many varied interests and talents. She enjoyed calligraphy, the arts, music, cooking, travel and especially nature as she volunteered as a docent at the Torrey Pines Nature Reserve in La Jolla.

She attended the La Jolla Presbyterian Church and volunteered in the church library.

Jeanne will be most remembered for her caring love of family and friends.

Surviving are two sisters, Ruth Leopold and Dorothy Allen, both of Butler; one brother, Thomas R. Heller and his wife, Joan, of Apple Valley, Calif.; five nieces and one nephew.

In addition to her parents, a brother, William J. Heller Jr., and a sister, Patricia Ann Heller, preceded her in death.

<B>HELLER</B> — Burial for Norma "Jeanne" Heller, who died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery with a private family service.Local arrangements provided by the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, Butler, and information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
