Eleanora Dodds Beck

Eleanora V. Ferne Dodds Beck, 89, of Butler, formerly of Florida and West Sunbury, passed away at 6:40 a.m. Friday at the Autumn Grove Care Center.

She was born June 26, 1920, in Butler. She was the daughter of the late William Jacob Ferne and Mary Gertrude Kradel Ferne.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Butler. She also was a member of the Tanglewood Senior Center.

She was one of the first female police officers in Butler and served as the crossing guard at the corner of Wayne and Chestnut streets for many years.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Pamela) Stoops of West Sunbury; and one son, Patrick Buzzard of Renfrew. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Mindy Irvine and Douglas Buzzard; one great-grandson, Frank Jeffrey Irvine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husbands, John Dodds and Leo Beck; seven sisters; and three brothers.

<B>BECK</B> — Friends of Eleanora V. Ferne Dodds Beck, who died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Alden W. Towberman, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.
