Whitmire

M. Virginia Whitmire, 84, of Butler passed away Thursday at her home.

She was born Aug. 7, 1925, in North Washington, the daughter of the late Webster V. Campbell and Mary Ann (Christie) Campbell.

Virginia was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was involved in the Women's Missionary Society and had taught Sunday school for many years. She also was a member of the Unionville Grange and a graduate of The Butler Business School.

She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are four sons, James and Joyce Whitmire of Petrolia, Ronald Whitmire of Butler, Allan and Tammy Whitmire of Butler and Kenneth and Christine Whitmire of Covina, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian and Don Vensel of Royal Oak, Mich.; a brother, Richard and Grace Campbell of West Sunbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James R. Whitmire, who died Feb. 16, 2001; and two brothers.

<B>WHITMIRE</B> — Friends of M. Virginia Whitmire, who died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. Dave Maitland, officiating.
