Richard E. Kriley Sr., 73, of Flintstone, Md., passed away Wednesday after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Butler on Jan. 9, 1936, he was the son of the late Elmer J. and Margaret A. Kriley.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retiring from active duty as a petty officer in 1974. Later in his career, he worked for Maryland Materials, Contractor's Sand and Gravel, and finally, Parker's Express in Delaware.

With his beloved wife, Reva, he retired to western Maryland. An avid outdoorsman, Richard was also a talented stained glass artist.

He is survived by his loving wife, Reva Cunningham-Kriley; four children, Michael S. (Lisa) Kriley of Arizona, Richard E. (Jackie) Kriley Jr. of New York, Denise M. Lewis (fiance John) of Tennessee and Thomas P. (Sheryl) Kriley of Tennessee; two sisters, Virginia (Richard) Winters and Carol Kriley of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

<B>KRILEY</B> — A funeral service for Richard E. Kriley, who passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at <B>Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home</B>, Newark, Del. Interment with military honors will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Del.Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Sisters of Divine Providence.
