Mrs. Josephine A. Alvino, 85, of Freeport passed away peacefully at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Butler.

Josephine was born in Vandergrift, April 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Jesse and Antoinette (Enrico) Logero.

She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Freeport.

She was the widow of Dominic J. Alvino, who passed away in April 2008.

Mrs. Alvino is survived by her two children, Kathleen J. (John Conte) Gross of Brockton, Mass., and James P. (Marsha) Alvino of Jefferson Township; two grandsons, Kevin (Lynn) Gross of Boylston, Mass., and Jeffrey (Candis) Gross of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Jamie and Jack Gross, all of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Mrs. Alvino was preceded in death by her three brothers, John and Thomas Logero and James Logero, who was shot down over Germany during World War II.

<B>ALVINO</B> — At the family's request, there will be no visitation for Josephine A. Alvino, who died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009. Burial will be held in the St. Mary Cemetery Freeport.
