Robert F. Young, 75, of Allegheny Township went to be with the Lord at 5 p.m. Thursday surrounded by loving family members at his home.

Robert was born in West Monterey, on March 19, 1934, son of the late James and Gertrude Keefer Young.

He recently served in several capacities at the Lower Burrell Baptist Church and formerly for many years at the Pine Run Presbyterian Church.

He was employed as an electrical engineer at Alcoa Technical Center for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He had worked as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, as a tax aide for AARP, and for the food pantry at the Lower Burrell Baptist Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, working in his yard and woodworking. He often met for lunch with former co-workers who called themselves ROMEO, Retired Old Men Eating Out.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley R. Callen Young; three daughters, Karen (Scott) Graff of Allegheny Township., Diane (Thomas) Wassick of LaGrangeville, N.Y., and Carole Harrison of Seguin, Texas; two sons, John Young of Allegheny Township and Steven (Dana) Young of Saltsburg; a brother, Donald (Betty) Young of Cortland, Ohio; and a sister, Mary Joann (William) Singer of Freeport. Robert is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Jacob and Caleb Graff, Michael and Megan Wassick, Joe, Kevin and Jack Young and Drew Roberts.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his brother, James Young, and his infant son, Robert Kevin Young.

Young, who died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, are being received from noon to 2 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at <B>REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, </B>524 High St., Freeport. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Pine Run Presbyterian Church in Apollo with the Rev. Lanny Mellinger officiating. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Butler Township.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tri-City Life, 2920 Leechburg Rd.
