Ruth K. Dick, 96, of Butler, formerly of Prospect, died Tuesday at her home.

She was born in Prospect, Jan. 5, 1914, and was the daughter of Lyman Pyle Kennedy and Ella Tintsman Kennedy.

She was a full-time mother and grandmother.

She was a lifetime member of The Presbyterian Church of Prospect.

She was a graduate of the Slippery Rock Normal School. She became a school teacher and taught from 1934 to 1944 in one-room schools.

She loved quilting and her Saturday lunches with her daughters.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Potts of Butler, Mrs. Bill (Virginia) Thinnes of Butler and Mrs. Bob (Ella) Hicks of Prospect; two sons, George Dick and his wife, Sandy, of Butler and Bob Dick and his wife, Cheryl, of Prospect; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, George H. Dick Sr., who she married Jan. 1, 1943, and who died Dec. 7, 1968; a son, John; two sisters; three brothers; and a son-in-law.

<B>DICK</B> — Visitation for Ruth K. Dick, who died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today from the <B>Jay Bryan Funeral Home</B>, 443 Main St., Prospect. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at The Presbyterian Church of Prospect. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Burial Estates in Mount Chestnut.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Presbyterian Church of Prospect or to the Prospect Community Library.
