Charles W. Emmett, 74, of Butler passed away Monday at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

Born in Shaler Township, Allegheny County, Sept. 18, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Mildred Miller Emmett Sr.

He was an engineer with Sprint Telephone Co., retiring in 1997 after 38 years.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served in Korea during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

He was past president of the Federation of Telephone Workers, and he was a former director of Center Township Little League.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Rivers Emmett, to whom he was married for 50 years; one son, Charles D. Emmett of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Johnathan, Meara and Katie; and one brother, John Emmett Jr. and his wife, the Rev. Mary Grey, of Prospect.

He also is survived by a sister-in-law, Ann Allen; a brother-in-law, Ken Jenkins; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louis and Virginia Rivers; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father James Solberg, pastor officiating. Everyone please meet at the church.
