Mihalyi

George F. Mihalyi, 91, of Richland Township died Wednesday.

Born March 13, 1918, in Coraopolis, he was the son of the late George F. and Bertha (Peters) Mihalyi.

He was the beloved husband for 62 years of the late Grace M. (Uffelman) Mihalyi, and he also was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

He was the loving father of George F. Mihalyi III and his wife, Barbara, of Coraopolis, Richard R. Mihalyi and his wife, Lyda, of North Carolina and David A. Mihalyi and his wife, Jennifer, of Richland Township. He also is survived by five dear grandsons, Brian Mihalyi and his wife, Ruth, Brad Mihalyi, Matthew Mihalyi and his wife, Amanda, Scott Mihalyi and Eric Mihalyi.

George was a World War II Navy veteran, a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, the Mars VFW, the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM and the Syria Temple.

He was a retired road supervisor for Richland Township.

Mihalyi, who died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, will welcome friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Stoops officiating.
