Birdie Slagle Edmonds
Mrs. Birdie Slagle Horneman Edmonds, 78, of Rock Hill, S.C., formerly of Bruin, passed away Monday at the Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill.
A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Birdie was the daughter of the late Virgil B. and Charlene Snow Slagle and the widow of the Rev. Robert J. Horneman.
She was a member of the India Hook United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, where she was active in the Good News Sunday School Class.
Birdie worked as an administrator in several retirement/assisted living centers in Florida before her retirement.
Surviving are her husband, James G. Edmonds of the home; her son, Terry Horneman and his wife, Cynthia, of Gastonia, N.C.; two daughters, Lynda Strong of Clover, S.C., and Denise Miller and her husband, Tom, of Bonita Springs, Fla.; her brother, Larry Slagle and his wife, Norma, of Butler; her sister, Carol Slagle of Monroeville; two stepsons, Larry Edmonds and his wife, Donna, of Parker and Rex Edmonds and his wife, Joetta, of West Sunbury; two stepdaughters, Amy Peters and her husband, Denny, of Bruin and Judy Holtz and her husband, Allan, of Florida; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two great-great-grandchildren.
<B>EDMONDS</B> — A memorial service to celebrate the life of Birdie Slagle Horneman Edmonds, who died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, was held today.
